短短一個星期，47歲的蘇珊波爾，從蘇格蘭鄉下默默無聞的教會義工，變成全球家喻戶曉的人物。來自全球各地的媒體，守候在她家門口，仰慕他的歌迷寄來的信件如雪片般飛來，不僅美國脫口秀主持人，歐普拉想邀請她上節目，連一向嚴肅的華盛頓郵報都以頭版報導她的故事，蘇珊萬萬沒想到，多年來的明星夢 ， 能夠在有生之年 如願以償。
用天使般的嗓音唱出這首音樂劇悲慘世界的名曲，I Dream a Dream，我曾有個夢，讓蘇珊一夕爆紅，不過另一個原因，是拜YouTube所賜，她參加英國選秀節目時，從一開始受到裁判質疑到開口震驚全場的過程被轉貼在網路上 ，吸引至少1500萬人點閱。
被問到成名之後有什麼打算，未婚沒談過戀愛，只有貓咪陪伴的蘇珊表示，不會改變過去的生活步調，也沒打算離開這個她從出生一直居住到現在的小鎮。她也希望自己的例子，能夠改變社會上總是以貌取人的觀念。
